With morning temperatures at 8 degrees below freezing on Oct. 30, the Nevada Cycling Club team stood atop snow and ice covering a downhill mountain bike course with 1,700 vertical feet and 2.8 miles of territory to traverse.
The USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships trail started at 10,500 feet of elevation and weaved between trees with robust roots and rocks obstructing passage to the finish at 8,800 feet.
